Current Unit: ...

The years between the end of the American Civil War and the beginning of the 20th century saw the explosive growth of the United States. From a quiet, primarily rural society, the US grew into the world’s industrial leader. These remarkable changes brought fabulous wealth and power for some and pain for others. The period ends with a time of genuine reform and a new place in the world for the US. Find out about the winners, the losers, and the reformers of 19th century America. Learn why and how the 20th century became “America’s century”.
